Grounding box for 72.5-245kV cable systems Grounding box
Grounding boxes are installed at cable terminals and joints, connected to the cable's metal sheath, and are used to limit overvoltages and fault currents in the cable's metal sheath caused by lightning strikes and operational conditions. Cross-bonding grounding boxes are installed at joint locations to cross-bond the cable's metal sheaths, suppressing surge voltages and reducing circulating currents. The shielding voltage limiter (SVL) in the link box is a gapless zinc oxide arrester with an insulation resistance greater than 200 MΩ at the test voltage, so the SVL connection can function normally during cable sheath insulation testing. The specifications of the SVL can be determined according to the requirements of the cable system.

- The types of connection boxes include direct connection boxes (without SVL), protected connection boxes (with SVL), and cross-interconnection grounding boxes.
- Grounding boxes are designed according to different customer requirements, including 3-way type 1 or 6-way type 1 configurations, single-core or coaxial cable application types, and various waterproof designs.
