On April 14, 2025, at 9:00 AM, Centuray Company and the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology held the third “Fan Mingwu & Jin Liangzan Joint Education Fund” awards ceremony at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Academician Fan Mingwu, Associate Professor Yu Tiaoqin, President Jin Liangzan, Vice Dean Qin Bin, Secretary Li Dong of the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering, along with faculty, students from the institute, and representatives from Centuray Company, attended the ceremony.
The Fan Mingwu & Jin Liangzan Joint Education Fund was established in 2022 by Academician Fan and President Jin Liangzan. The fund aims to serve as a bridge connecting alumni and individuals from all walks of life who care about education, promoting the Chinese spirit of perseverance and hard work, and contributing to the cultivation of more outstanding talents for the country, as well as to academic development, technological innovation, and industry-university collaboration.
Professor Qin Bin, Director of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Foundation, first introduced the development history of the foundation. Chen Qushan, Secretary-General of the foundation, announced the list of award-winning faculty and students. Academician Fan Mingwu, President Jin Liangzan, and Vice President Zhao Jinlun jointly presented the awards to the winning faculty and students.
At this awards ceremony, President Jin Liangzan reviewed Centuray’s innovative development journey: from initially following industry trends to achieving independent innovation, and from fierce competition among industry leaders to the current established market structure, the company has undergone three iterations, successfully navigating geopolitical and economic cycles and new technology cycles. Particularly against the backdrop of the “dual carbon” goals, Centuray accurately grasped the opportunities presented by the global energy transformation, continuously deepening its expertise in rail transit and new energy materials applications, achieving leapfrog development. He also highlighted the strategic cooperation with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where both parties have defined medium- and long-term joint research and development directions and key research topics, committed to building an integrated “industry-academia-research-application” innovation ecosystem, injecting strong momentum into high-quality development. President Jin Liangzan also encouraged young students with his own experiences, stating that this era belongs to China, and expressing his belief in the young generation of China, in Chinese technology, and in Chinese manufacturing, emphasizing that the best opportunities are right here in this land! He concluded by saying, “Adhere to a long-term perspective, and legends will always emerge in this era.”
Li Dong, Secretary of the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, delivered a special report on the development of the institute in 2024, comprehensively showcasing the groundbreaking progress achieved by the institute.
At the event, Academician Fan Mingwu and President Jin Liangzan interacted with students from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, answering their questions and providing guidance for young students’ innovative practices.
All the faculty and students of the Institute of Applied Electromagnetics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology presented commemorative stamps to the leaders of Changzhou City and Centuray Company. Academician Fan personally inscribed the message: “Dedicated to education, cultivating talent, and jointly forging national strategic capabilities,” highlighting the shared mission of the university, local government, and enterprise in talent development and technological innovation.
