On the morning of March 15, 2026, at 9:00 AM, Centuray and the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) held the 4th “Fan Mingwu & Jin Liangzan Joint Education Fund” Awards Ceremony at HUST. Academician Fan Mingwu, Associate Professor Yu Tiaoqin, President Jin Liangzan, Dean Hu Jiabing, Associate Dean Qin Bin, and Li Dong—Secretary of the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering—were in attendance, joined by faculty and students from the Institute as well as representatives from Centuray.
The Fan Mingwu & Jin Liangzan Joint Education Fund was jointly established in 2022 by Academician Fan and President Jin Liangzan. Upholding the philosophy of “integrating fundamental theoretical research with industrial practice,” the Fund encourages academic exploration while prioritizing the translation and application of scientific research findings. In recent years, the Fund has emerged as a vital link connecting university-based research with corporate needs; it has facilitated industry-academia-research collaboration between Centuray and Huazhong University of Science and Technology across multiple technological domains, thereby making significant contributions to the cultivation of high-caliber innovative talent, the advancement of academic disciplines, and the promotion of technological innovation and university-enterprise partnerships.
During the ceremony, Hu Jiabing, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, reviewed the 25-year trajectory of Academician Fan Mingwu’s research in the field of particle accelerators and highlighted his significant contributions to the development of the discipline. He also commended Centuray for its outstanding achievements in securing independent and controllable key technologies within the realm of rail transit electrification. Subsequently, Chen Qushan, Secretary-General of the Foundation, announced the list of this year’s award-winning faculty members and students. Academician Fan Mingwu, President Jin Liangzan, Vice President Zhao Jinlun, and Liu Xiaolei—Vice President of Global Marketing and Service—jointly presented the awards to the recipients.
At this year’s awards ceremony, President Jin Liangzan delivered a keynote address titled “Seeing, Choosing, and Moving Forward.” Drawing upon the company’s decade-long journey of development, he shared how—against the backdrop of “profound changes unseen in a century”—Centuray has navigated a complex environment characterized by the intertwined forces of geopolitics, shifting economic landscapes, technological transformation, and climate challenges. He detailed how the company has steadfastly driven its growth through innovation, achieving a series of transformative leaps: from self-reinvention to reclaiming industry leadership; from solidifying core competitiveness to pioneering new market segments; and from establishing technological autonomy to evolving into a specialized, sophisticated, and innovative “Little Giant” enterprise. President Jin emphasized that breaking free from path dependency, strategically positioning high-value-added products, and expanding into overseas markets are the critical factors for the company’s sustained growth. Facing a new cycle of development driven by surging demand for AI computing power and the accelerated modernization of global power grid infrastructure, he outlined Centuray’s future strategy: to focus on strategic sectors such as AI computing, power semiconductors, and new energy, while continuously deepening its technological footprint. He further expressed Centuray’s commitment to joining forces with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Together, they aim to explore forward-looking paths for integration—centered on tackling cutting-edge technological challenges and addressing real-world industrial application scenarios—thereby injecting fresh momentum into technological innovation breakthroughs and the cultivation of high-caliber talent.
During the special report session, Professor Liu Yuliang delivered an academic presentation titled “The Current Status and Trends of Artificial Intelligence Development.” He systematically elucidated the critical importance of data-driven technologies in the era of large-scale models, the latest advancements in unstructured data governance, and the vast prospects for applying these technologies across various industries. Subsequently, Li Haozhe, a student representative among the award recipients, took the floor to express his sincere gratitude for the Joint Fund’s continued support; he pledged to leverage his research achievements to serve national needs, steadfastly upholding the ideal of dedicating his scientific endeavors to the service of the nation. In his concluding remarks, Academician Fan Mingwu emphasized that scientific research must break free from traditional path dependencies; only through deep integration with industry can it truly empower the nation’s strategic development. He encouraged young scholars to ground themselves in fundamental research and courageously shoulder the mission of their generation.
